GIBBES, LADSON, AND CARSON FAMILIES, SOUTH CAROLINA GEORGIAN 18K YELLOW GOLD AND HAIR-WORK MOURNING PENDANT, double-sided shield-form frame with bail to top, featuring two drawn images overlaid with cut hair under glass, consisting of one side depicting an image of a dove holding an olive branch, and the other side with a tree under a hinged frame panel, encompassed by a scrolled, ribbon-type border having black enameling to front and text, which reads "ELIZ: / CARSON / OB: 14 / JULY / 1769 / AET: 41". Unmarked, tested as 18K gold fineness. Total weight including non-gold components: 5.9 grams. Fourth quarter 18th century. 3/4" x 1 1/8" OA.Condition
