Description

Double-sided portrait miniature pendant with an oval portrait on card depicting Oliver Cromwell (1599-1658, Lord Protector 1653-1658), a rear alloy panel stated as 80% lead and 10% copper bearing the Latin Commonwealth inscription Pax Quaeritur Bello 1656 [Peace is obtained through War], and faceted rock crystal domes glazing both sides; the pierced unmarked high-carat gold frame is set on each side with six table-cut diamonds in rubover settings with white, pink and black enamelling, dimensions approximately 4 x 2.5 cm including bale, gross weight 15.10 g.
