Description

Georgian/Victorian gold/gold-filled hair-work mourning jewelry, lot of three pieces, each featuring a frame set with multiple pearls and single-cut black glass/stones surrounding a hair-work center under beveled-edge glass. The lot comprises a brooch with multi-colored hair arranged in a plume motif accented by gilt wire and seed pearls, reverse engraved "Helen Dean," with a pin fastener and hook clasp to the back, and a pair of drop earrings, each featuring woven hair to the center. Unmarked, the brooch tested as 14k gold fineness but possibly heavy rolled gold-plated. 19th century. Brooch measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/4".
